Social Media

          At Maritime Forces Atlantic, while working in the Navy Public Affairs department,  I executed the social media for MARLANT on Facebook and Twitter for three months, increasing engagement and followers. As a government organization, MARLANT required posts to be made in both French and English. Content often required deep, factual research on ships and personnel, which I conducted.

        MARLANT used social media for the following purposes:

​

  • Scheduled weekly tweets: Fitness Monday, Trivia Tuesday, and Throwback Thursday, 

  • Events, such as Remembrance Day, Veterans Week, the Halifax Explosion Anniversary, and ship homecomings.

  • Promoting feature articles .

  • Updates on various vessels while on deployments.

  • Promotion of the performances by the Stadacona Band. (Including live broadcasts on Facebook.)

  • Ensuring all of the social media accounts (ours and those affiliated with our ships) met National level social media compliance.

  • Use of strategic photos, hashtags and tagging.
